installation

Hi,

How to confirm successful installation of octave? I
installed the download from sun's freeware page and it
installed in /usr/local.

When I type octave nothing happens????

There is the following in /local/bin:
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     other         13 Apr 22 07:05
octave -> octave-2.0.14

Any suggestions?
