Thank you both. I have a printed version of the GNU Octave Manual (Feb 1997
by J.W. Eaton. I got thrown off by the URL
http://www-math.unice.fr/laboratoire/help/info/octave/octave_41.html#SEC52
and assumed that it provided additional documentation.

Welcome to Darwin!
(Added now: I've looked for the file printing this "Welcome to Darvin!"
message but could not find it.)
PATH: Command not found.
Location of this file is /users/mollet/.login (see below)
[Henry-Mollets-Computer:~] mollet% octave
GNU Octave, version 2.1.35 (powerpc-apple-darwin6.2).

I installed "my" octave using Fink and the application is located at
HD/SW/bin/octave-2.1.35 and I have an alias "octave" but apparently a PATH
to something than cannot be found. However, "my" octave works just fine.

Same for gnuplot which works fine:
[Henry-Mollets-Computer:~] mollet% gnuplot
PATH: Command not found.
        G N U P L O T
        Version 3.8h patchlevel 0

[Henry-Mollets-Computer:~] mollet% cat .cshrc
#!/bin/tcsh
# shell variables
set noclobber
set savehist=10
set history=10
#Aliases
alias h history
#Setting Path for Fink Usage
#But source executes a CShell script?
source /sw/bin/init.csh
#Setting Path for Octave Usage
#Setting Path for Demos of Gnuplot
PATH =  /sw/bin:/sw/share/doc/gnuplot/demo:

I admit I'm having a hard time with setting a PATH, I don't know why I seem
to have such a hard time understanding it.

I looked for "octave_toc.html" but could not find the local file. My tree
looks as follows:
HD/SW/share/doc/octave
/BUGS
ChangeLog
/COPYING
/examples directory
/INSTALL.OCTAVE
/NEWS
/README
/ROADMAP
/SENDING-PATCHES

And please can somebody tell me what cvs is as in
"Is it possible to have a cvs backup of the wiki?" (Wiki was explained).
Henry
