The kpse_clear_dir_cache function is something that was added to the
version of the kpathsearch library that is distributed with Octave.
It is not actually needed, so it has been removed from the current
sources.  However, there are still some bug fixes for kpathsearch that
you will probably want, so it is still useful to use Octave's
version.  In the next development snapshot, the kpathsearch library
will actually be included in liboctave, so Octave won't try to link to
an external kpathsearch library.
