There's been some talk of setting up a COAN (comprehensive Octave archive
network)...
anyone interested? Anyway, in the meantime the idea of a European mirror
sounds great.
Preferably someone with a university connection.

We're also getting octave.sourceforge.net bootstrapped, but downloads won't
be any
faster than at matlinks, since sourceforge seems to be bogged down, even with
their
multiple T3 backbone servers... Chalk it up to popularity.

Is this file mirrored somewhere on a faster server ( e.g. in Europe) ?

This archive has about 7.2 Mb, but my downlod- connection (via netscape)
never succeeded to transfer more than 500 kB before the connection was
lost because a timeout occured ( after 10 trials I gave up .. )
