I believe that Joao Cardoso has a patch to 2.1.13 that
extends load/save functionallity to structs (and lists
too) for 'octave format' binary and ascii files.  Joao's
changes have not been incorporated into 2.0.14 or
2.1.14 nor has the patch been checked-out for 2.1.14
(to my knowledge, I haven't updated my octave to 2.1.14
because I'm waiting until I get time to update my Linux
dist'n first.) You may have to stick with 2.1.13 for now.
I use it and it works nicely.
