libraries

 I have a problem.  I am compiling octave 2.0.13 on RH4.2. It
| compiles it can do
|
| x=1
|
| but crashes when I say x=1+2.
|
| Reading README.Linux suggests that this may be due to
| incompatibility of libraries and compilers. I have
|
| gcc-2.7.2 g++ 2.7.2
| libc-5.4.46-1rh42
| ls.so-1.9.9-1rh42
| libg++-2.7.1.4-5
|
| What should I upgrade?
