flops.

Matlab compatibility.


I had to do two out of three HW assignments in matlab
in numerical analysis last semester bc the prof (Demmel)
wanted a flops count for our implementation.
His point was to make people aware that their 
algorithms have computational consequences.

I personally think the matlab flops count is 
bogus because it returns flops  = 1 for a square
root operation.  Yeah right.  

I *really* better get to work...
