Re: octave-2.0.8-i386-cygwin32 (b18) binary available

I have tried to install octave. So far without success.
Already, I've had CYGWIN32 cdk.exe installed. After failing
to install octave (for Win95), I tried to install g77.The error
messages I got include the following:

H-i386-cygwin32/bin/i386-cygwin32-gcc.exe to
H-i386-cygwin32/bin/gcc.exe

/GNUWIN32/B18/H-i386~1/BIN/TAR.EXE: Could not change access
and modification times of. : Permission denied.

/GNUWIN32/B18/H-i386~1/BIN/TAR.EXE: Cannot change mode of
file  . to 775 : Invalid argument.

Any pointers regarding what I should be doing will be
gratefully appreciated.
