octave and gnuplot

Hi,
   I'm not a user of octave (anyone got VMS binaries ?), but I am
the current maintainer of gnuplot, which I believe is used by octave
for graphics.

Since the release of gnuplot 3.6 is approaching, I thought I should
1) make sure the octave community is aware that 3.6 beta is available
   from cmpc1.phys.soton.ac.uk
2) seek opinions on any last-minute changes which would improve the
   interface.
