No, you are trying to find the One True Concept of Programming, and
you will not succeed.

But some wider reading and history might help.  The notion of an
"abstract class" was invented by Smalltalk, before the notion of an
ADT.  Indeed, abstract classes led to ADTs.

And abstract classes suffer from the same problems.
