Just one short one before I go home. It makes sense when doing development. 
maybe we could make it a flag. It assures that the script is completely rerun 
if the GIFT has changed and indexing has been done. Of course, the thing to 
do would be to assign GIFT version numbers to the file format and compare 
that.
