I had the same problem with 0.1.6pre3, 0.1.8 worked.

Hello all,

 I am completely new to GIFT. I tried to install and configure the
gift-0.1.6pre3 version under linux on a pc. Unfortunatly it didn´t work.

I got the following messages:

 /home/gbrunner/gift-0.1.6pre3/libMRML/cc//.libs/libMRML.so:  undifined
reference to `dlerror´
 /home/gbrunner/gift-0.1.6pre3/libMRML/cc//.libs/libMRML.so:  undifined
reference to `dlclose´
 /home/gbrunner/gift-0.1.6pre3/libMRML/cc//.libs/libMRML.so:  undifined
reference to `dlopen´
 /home/gbrunner/gift-0.1.6pre3/libMRML/cc//.libs/libMRML.so:  undifined
reference to `dlsym´
 collect2: ld retruned 1 exit status
