[h-e-w] cygwin bash -i from *shell* yields "command not found"? (Line ending issue?)

I'm sure this is something fundamental, but what do I have set wrong
to make this happen?

I'm using the emacs at ntemacs.sourceforge.net, version 23.0.0.1.
