Today gnURL has been released in version 7.58.0, following the release of cURL 
7.58.0.

NOTE to distro maintainers:

In the second last version the number of socially enforced configure
switches was reduced to a small fraction of what was previously
required. Read the README contained within the tarball or in the
git, it is worth looking into the changes to ensure you build a
technically correct gnURL.
Some last switches remain, I am working to reduce this to only
optional switches.
