[GNUnet-developers] GNUnet 0.7.0pre1 released

The 0.7.0pre1 release is the last planned pre-release before 0.7.0. If
everything goes according to plan the code in 0.7.0pre1 will be protocol and
data-format compatible with 0.7.0. Instead of advertising a long list of
features, here is the short list of missing features that we hope to add by
the time 0.7.0 makes the grade.

* gnunet-gtk is not implemented (zero lines of code)
* gnunet-setup is not complete (does not work yet)
* the documentation (in particular on the WWW) is partially out-of-date
* various components are under-tested (FSUI, tracekit, gap)
* F2F topology does not yet work

The 0.7.0pre1 release is expected to be stable in terms of both protocol, data
formats and implementation in general. However, it has not been tested on a
large scale and since the protocol has changed the peer-to-peer network will
probably require a few early adopters to bootstrap the network (so don't
expect to find more than the GPL at this point). You can download pre1 from
http://gnunet.org/download/GNUnet-0.7.0pre1.tar.gz

A final word of caution, all 0.7.x releases are and will continue to be
completely incompatible with all 0.6.x releases and also with 0.7.0pre0.
This release is the first that has a good chance at being compatible with
0.7.0 and later. Migrating data from a previous installation is not supported
and will never be supported (since it is impossible).
