This is an oversight on my behalf. I wrote that I took out the "slow
falloff after peaks" code and this is the place were I did it. I just
commented out the old value to compare to (lastRet) and replaced it with
-10 to guaranty the direct return of the current value.
I just forgot to take the code out completely after debugging, so I'm
sorry for the confusion...
