That seems to be doing the trick. I'll see if I can come up with a revised Make2 that works the same in Linux and Mac OS X.

Can you make it work by adding "-D linux" to CFLAGS in Make2 ?

Those files are from Spice.  I would rather use them unmodified
if possible, even if it means building around a bug.
