I've been pondering on the future of gNewSense for a while. I wonder
what you as users think about it. What do you expect from gNewSense? How
should it be different from other Debian (direct or indirect)
derivatives (Trisquel, PureOS, Devuan)? Where lies the balance between
differentiation and fragmentation (considering available resources)?

Hi,

I think that considering “human resources” is the key to know where the balance lies between differentiation and fragmentation. If there is not enough people for a project then, it is fragmentation. Now, the question is what does mean having enough people for a project? In other words: at what point should we consider that a project is not enough maintained? I have no answer to that question.

Concerning differentiation, I think that having different free distributions is a really good thing so that users might choose what they consider the better for them. I don't know about Devuan and PureOS but GNewSense is quite different from Trisquel and I think that those differences worth to be. I personally use both (and also Parabola sometimes) and would regret GNewSense if it would cease to be because my first choice is GNewSense, there are a few things that I don't like about Trisquel but I need it for some softwares.

Bye.
