[gNewSense-users] Computer Won't Boot

Hello, I unfortunately now have a computer that won't boot, with the exception of an OS that I can't run any programs on.

Admittedly, it was partly my fault. I own an HP Pavilion dm4. This computer originally had Ubuntu Netbook Remix installed on it. I was happy with it, but I decided I wanted to scrap it and install gNewSense instead. I loaded up the LiveCD and started the installation program. Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of my control, I had to shut off the computer while it was still installing gNewSense. If I can remember correctly, it was 5% complete and was "Creating an ext3 filesystem..." when it shut down. At this point, when I booted my computer Ubuntu wouldn't start. "error: unknown filesystem." "grub rescue>" I decided to boot into the gNewSense LiveCD and try installation again. This time, midway through I got an error about not being able to create an ext3 filesystem. I then went to #gnewsense IRC (on my phone) , and even with their help and using manual partitioning, I wasn't able to create that initial filesystem. One person suggested to use the partitioner application on the LiveCD and not to use the installer's partition editor. That's when I realized that I couldn't run any application on the LiveCD except the installation app, which wasn't working anyways. I was able to click them, but they either returned a "x failed to start" error or they just didn't open. I don't have any valuable data on this machine, I just want to install gNewSense on it, but I guess any option that lets me boot into an OS is a step forward at this point.

Thanks ahead of time for any help.
