Hi aurelien, welcome to gNewSense. Thanks for being thorough in providing information for your problem. From the last part I gather that it's a Canon PIXMA iP1500. According to the OpenPrinting database [1] it should be possible to get this working, but I'm not sure if that information has been verified. This model is indeed not available in the printer configuration list in gNewSense. However, I have seen reports that say that maybe the driver for printer types BJC-7000 or BJC-7004 might work. You could also try the other PIXMA iP.... drivers. If all else fails, [1] says that your printer also supports direct text printing. Then it can only print simple texts, but that still better than nothing. To enable this, choose make Generic, model text-only.
Please consider contacting Canon to ask for free drivers for their printers. If every printer owner would do this, it probably wouldn't be long before Canon would fulfill that request.
