As Ali said: try Gnash 0.8.4 from getgnash.org.

Or if you don't mind the Cortado player, go to http://tinyvid.tv/, which 
is free format/codec friendly. You can have it convert Youtube videos. A 
future version of Firefox/IceCat will have native support for it.
