This wont work.

This is never a good idea, gutsy+hardy are not entirely compatible :)

This is the right move, *as long as* the build scripst are trying to
read this file.

Which it looks like they are not doing.

Not knowing the details of LTSP, i cant tell you 'just edit blah file'.
If i was available (eg, Not at work :)) i'd try and look into ti for
you.
