I would say you seems a bit radical.

As far as I know, several wireless chipsets projects are working on re-writing 
their driver
in order to work WITHOUT any firmware (binary blobs).

And some of these have already accepted by the upstream kernel, and now is part 
of 2.6.24.

One great example of this is the rt2500/rt61 driver. (not sure)

So that means I would say the entire wireless directory should be looked with 
care
rather than delete them all at once.
