[gNewSense-users] gNS seems to be violating GPLv2

I just noticed that gNS-project seems to be violating GPLv2 license of
Linux Kernel.

The section 2a of GPLv2 says "You must cause the modified files to
carry prominent notices stating that you changed the files and the date
of any change."

Several files in Linux Kernel have been changed in gNS without
including such a notice (as one example: sound/pci/Makefile) which
seems to be clear violation of GPLv2.

Also, according to section 4 of GPLv2, such violation would
automatically terminate the rights under the GPLv2.


So what should gNS-project do to fix this?

Of course appropriate notices needs to be added. In addition, should
the gNS-project make sure that the person(s) who did the
changes don't do any kernel-modifications for the project from now on
since they don't seem to have the right to do that anymore?


ps. According to address@hidden, if your rights under GPLv2 have been
automatically terminated according to section 4 of GPLv2, "You
need to get in contact with the copyright holder(s) of the software and
ask for a formal restoration of the license." to get those right back.
