Oh, that's undisputable and self-explanatory.  I bet that Canonical
also do not offer any kind of compensation in case of a failed
upgrade, so I definitely didn't mean "guarantee" in the strict meaning
of the word.

Unfortunately I do not have a spare machine to experiment.

Does anybody know about a document explaining how to upgrade from
Drepper to Hardy, similar to Debian's "Release Notes" [1]?
