There is signifigant change in the software base so the odds of safely
doing an upgrade are pretty small. I'm pretty sure the plan is to
release 2.0 which will need to be installed "Fresh".

We certainly hope so! A TON of work has gone into that and in most
cases, very little will have to be re-confirmed. For the most part, we
know where the issues are. We can safely say that we don't need to
re-check the GNU stuff but we'll need to do some Wiki updating to show
the change from GPL v3 to GPL v3. The packages that will need scrutiny
are the new ones and the ones we've already identified as being
problematic.
