[gNewSense-users] AMD64 version of gNewSense?

Hi,

I've just purchased a new machine, with the Gigabyte GA M57SLI-S4
motherboard that will soon support LinuxBIOS, for a truly 100% Free
Software workstation. The FSF has just bought 2 of these motherboards
also, and is helping the LinuxBIOS project.

The board supports a dualcore AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU, and so I'd like to
create an AMD64 version of gNewSense.

If I do this, will the gNewSense project support a amd64 repository so
everyone else can benefit? :-)

Machine Details
===========

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA M57SLI-S4

Memory - 1Gb (2x512MB) DDR2 667Mhz RAM (set up for Dual Channel Memory Mapping)

Processor – Dual Core AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 1MB SKT-AM2, cooled by a
Scythe Mine Cooler (Rev B) quiet Heatsink which exhausts fan directly
out the rear of the PC.

Antec Midi Case – Solo. Silver/black frontage. Sides/Top/Bottom very
high gloss, piano black finish.  This high quality case places
emphasis on reducing noise emission. Fitted with 120mm controllable
rear exhaust fan complemented with two 92mm front intake silent fans .
This coupled with the 120mm fan in the PSU ensures excellent
cooling/thermal properties.  Case is heavy but that's to be expected
of a quality case with sound dampening material.

Hard Drive - Seagate HD Serial 250GB UDMA (SATA II) 300 7200RPM 16MB.
Mounted on top of silicon grommets to reduce noise/vibration.  Option
exists to mount the hard drive on 'suspenders', but in all honesty,
the grommets work exceptionally well and provide a secure fixing for
transportation etc. Jumpers set to 3GB transfer rate (this can be
reduced back to the basic 1.5Gb if software limitations necessitate).

Graphics Card – ASUS 256Mb (supporting 512Mb) Ati Radeon EAX550HM512;
Dual VGA, DVI and TV-Out

Power Supply -  Enermax Liberty  ELT500AWT 500W A/PFC using modular
cabling system to reduce cabling and improve case airflow. Very quiet.
Consistent power output on all rails.

Optical Drive 1 -  ASUS DVD/CD Rom Drive
Optical Drive  2 – Sony/NEC DVDRW (DualLayer)/CD Writer, Cabling for
IDE Drives via Silver Round Cables instead of Ribbon Cables to aid
airflow. Front Audio, Firewire and USB Ports for simplified access.
