Ok, so there is a difference between tolua and tolua++?
Because I have tolua version 5.1.2, which indicates a completely
different naming scheme.

No need for backporting, since they are minor. The == issue might even
be a no-op, maybe the variable is even already initialized to 0?
I'm trying to build the new version with Debian lua, not the 1.01 branch.
It seems I get all the way through the compilation, but I currently
fails at linking. Apparently I'm still missing the proper references
of @address@hidden
When I got this completely working, maybe we can make that a configure
option to choose the appropriate lua?
Right now a couple of Makefiles will contain path references.
