calfw expects agenda files in the `org-agenda-files` variable. If you never 
explicitly set that variable globally, instead setting it locally in each 
custom agenda, that may be the problem.

Also, try calling =cfw:open-org-calendar=, not =cfw:open-calendar-buffer=.
