Follow-up Comment #1:
Duplicity's uses sftp for list() and delete() and scp for get() and put().
It would be possible to script it to use sftp only, but there's been no good
reason to do so; ssh, scp and sftp are all part of the ssh package, all linked
from the same libraries, so there's no security advantage to limiting use to
sftp only.
