One objection might be the lack of a standard standalone version of
argp, for use with non-glibc systems.
address@hidden (Niels Möller) actually maintains a standalone
version (I think for use with `lsh'); I've been meaning to reconcile
that with glibc, but have been sadly remiss in doing so [he's been
patiently sending me email for several years!].
