Hmm... 1.22 is pretty old.

I can't reproduce your problem with tail from the 2.0 series and I
don't have any of the old 1.x series around to try. I assume it has
been fixed. Thanks for the report. The latest test release is
available at
ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/fetish/
Being on WinNT I am sure you are using the Cygwin utilities. You
don't say which version of Cygwin you are using but I am sure they
have a newer version available. The cygwin home page is at:
http://www.cygwin.com/
They have newer versions available.
