That means having two utilities for the same purpose. Not very
convenient. Be it "weirdo" or not, the current route/ifconfig
invocation syntax has be here for decades, it is the commonly
accepted one, and it is this syntax that's being used by all
scripts all over the world. We cannot expect the situation to
change any time soon. As a side note, I don't see any sound
motivation for that (the long-option syntax is neither
simpler nor nor more convenient). Given all this, I regard the
library version as a better alternative.
