   We can if we use LGPLv3+ for libroute.

That is not something I can decide, it is up to the FSF.  But my quick
reading is that LGPLv2-static-library + LGPLv3+-static-library +
GPLv3+-program is a no go (the whole program must be licensed under
the terms of the GPL, and one cannot relicense the LGPLv2 part under
terms compatible with GPLv3+), and seeing that we might add cool
features, it would be a bad idea to allow software hoarders to use the
library.
