TLS support in FTP, support for a new Kerberos implementation in
telnet(d)/rsh(d), possibly SRV records for telnet... and if I
throw in IDN support in those tools that use getaddrinfo, where it
look simple, then I think there is enough to call it 1.5.0.

Looking at the ROADMAP that Jeff wrote, 1.5 should have had lots of
code refactored into libraries etc. This hasn't happened yet, so this
is a goot reason why it shouldn't be called 1.5. Anyway, it is just a
number.

Why is telnet not using getaddrinfo anymore, btw?

I'm having a real hard time locating the actual change, the ChangeLog
entries don't note it. I'll look further in the CVS logs and see if I
can find anything. Very strange...
