I have no problem assigning my changes for the ftp client to the FSF, just 
send me or point me to the required papers. Note however that my changes to
the ftp client are based, on the framework used in the ftp-tls implementation
by Peter Runestig which was under the BSD license. 

Only few things remain from the original code and are mostly small wrappers
over putc(), getc() and such.
