A little confusion on my side.
Did you mean you are picking the ball, where Jeff left and
drop a release on ftp.gnu.org?

BTW, how does one make a release nowadays? 8-)
Used to have the passwd on ftp.gnu.org and just drop the
tarball of "make dist" ... alas things changed
