Hello,
recently I've upgraded from 3.6.1 to 3.6.2 and noticed that although the user settings listed in $HOME/.gv are read (I checked that with strace), they are not applied. My ~/.gv files contains just a single line:
GV.printCommand: lp -d ipnp-pr0
however the print button in the menu still offers the system default "lpr". When I changed the system default settings (in /etc/X11/app-defaults/GV), it is applied correctly then, but I prefer not to touch the system setting and give users a chance to set their preferred printer command.

In the previous version (3.6.1), everything works well.

Is it possible that system settings take preference over the user settings in the new version ? Please let me know if you need more detailed info/output of any command.

I am using the debianized gv, the older good working one is:
[ipnp21] ~ > dpkg --status gv Package: gv
Status: install ok installed
Priority: optional
Section: text
Installed-Size: 576
Maintainer: Martin A. Godisch <address@hidden>
Architecture: i386
Version: 1:3.6.1-10sarge1

and the newer faulty one is:
[ipnp21] ~ > dpkg --status gv
Package: gv
Status: install ok installed
Priority: optional
Section: text
Installed-Size: 496
Maintainer: Christoph Berg <address@hidden>
Architecture: i386
Version: 1:3.6.2-3

Best regards
                      Tomas Davidek
