Estimados todos:

Antes que nada buen comienzo de año y mis mejores deseos para cada uno de ustedes, ¡para el 2013 y para siempre!

Este es el informe que nos envían los administradores al final de cada año.
Es un resumen de las actividades y el progreso de cada uno de los grupos de
traducción a los varios idiomas, como así también las novedades sobre GNUN,
el programa que tanto nos ayuda en nuestras tareas.

Espero que sea de vuestro interés.

Hello, fellow translators!

This year was long and active, both in terms of new translations and
especially in terms of maintaining the old ones. Most teams were
essentially more active than in 2011. The amount of non-up-to-date
translations has never been so low since the very introduction of
GNUN, and the amount of up-to-date translations exceeded the amount of
other translations.

     General Statistics

The table below shows the number and total size of translated articles
(as of 2012-12-31), those with new translations and whose translations
were converted to the PO format. Only the translations from
the `important' directories were counted, and errors are likely.

It should be taken into account that this table doesn't represent one
important activity, updating the translations in the PO format; for
example, the quantity of outdated Polish translations was much lower
in 2012 than in 2011, which can't be shown here.

* The Arabic translation was submitted without taking over
the orphan team and installed by web-translators.

     New and Reformed Teams

Three teams are in fact new: Czech, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese;
Korean, Romanian and Spanish teams changed their leaders (we are still
looking forward to new and updated Romanian translations). There was
an effort to revive the Malayalam team; the prospective leader
submitted a few translations, but they were not from the `important'
directory, so they don't show up on the table above.

Also I find it appropriate to note in this section that this year
www.gnu.org got its first `Traditional' Chinese translations
in the PO format.

Unfortunately, we still have no active teams for three priority
languages, Arabic, Hindi and Indonesian; there even was no single
attempt to establish any of those teams in 2012.

Advances in the Page Regeneration System

This year has seen a notable progress in our regeneration tools
and their setup. The cron jobs moved from Yavor's account
to a special account, address@hidden (yes, it was less
than a year ago), and changed dramatically, which recently resulted
in reducing the cycle of regeneration from 8 hours to 30 minutes.

GNUN itself may be said to have evolved. Two releases were prepared
during 2012, providing more flexibility for webmasters and many other
small developments, including a new per-translator notification
facility inspired by the system of our Polish team.

Happy GNU year, and thanks a lot for your contributions.

(I see nothing secret in this message, so if you feel it might be
interesting to people who are not subscribed to the list, you may
of course forward it).
