Darshit Shah created an issue: https://gitlab.com/gnuwget/wget2/-/issues/661

It has recently come to our attention that Fedora 40 made the decision to ship
GNU Wget2 as GNU Wget. While both the projects are maintained by the same
developers and Wget2 is indeed supposed to be the natural successor to Wget, it
is just not ready. Upstream was *NOT* asked for its opinion on this matter. If
we had been asked about this, we'd have stated our concerns and said that it's
a bad idea.

Most options in Wget are forwards compatible with Wget2. But the output is
entirely different, so people that rely on parsing the output of Wget will have
a lot of problems (This is something, I pay particular attention to. Even
though, the output was never promised to be stable).

If you're a Fedora user and are facing troubles with Wget, please ensure which
version of the binary you're using first. Secondly, please be kind when
reporting issues, we understand the frustration you're facing with non-working
software, but remember that it is unpaid volunteers on the other side. And it
was your distribution that decided to ship a piece of software without telling
you what it was. We've never claimed Wget2 is ready to be used as Wget. It is a
binary called Wget2 and we intend for it to be used in parallel with Wget,
atleast for the time being.
