I'm actually a bit less worried about this right now, because most of the repos
I want I can access via rsync (which is much faster than fetching things via
ftp) and the few I can't are very small. If you look at the -X expression I
used, it's really ugly and collapses to a much nicer --reject-regexp.
I'd rather ensure that --accept-regexp and --reject-regexp are rock solid, and
compose (perhaps based on order on the command line). But that would be the
subject of another issue.
