locale:         everything is set to en_GB.UTF-8 (except LC_COLLATE=C)
platform:       xubuntu 9.10 (Linux chris 2.6.31-16-generic #52-Ubuntu SMP Thu 
Dec 3 22:07:16 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
vile/xvile:     vile, I don't have xvile 9.7x built yet
screen:         ./configure --with-perl --with-screen=ncurses 
--with-libdir-path=/usr/share/vile --with-startup-path=/usr/share/vile
