Hi!,
So if I understand your question correctly, you want something like a library
that contains project save states, where for each project save state you can
set a description string ?
Using the automated backup system is indeed not a good fit. You can do it by
hand, saving the project.tpf file each time you want a state and give it that
name or so.
When you want to go back to that state, remove the current project.tpf file,
and copy one of the saved project-your-state-here.tpf file to project.tpf if
you understand what I mean.
What exactly is the purpose of such a list of saved states ?

In short, yes, but I'm not sure to what degree you want this functionality,
and what purpose does it serve?
It might be something that more people would like to have, in which case it
would be good to have a generic solution to this feature request.
