I think it is a bit dangerous or at least disturbing -- won't that end
up as one giant command in the rule's recipe?  It is a feature that make
stops when only one command in a recipe exits with non-zero status.

Also, you'll have to define all these M4FILE variables for each
invocation, because their values must be different.  So if we have to
define 3 or 4 variables before each generate-html command, that would
decrease the benefit IMHO.

I think our makefile is generally simple and readable for a über
encapsulation like this.

Last but not least, we don't know yet if GNUN is compatible with all the
articles out there.  Perhaps we'll need to add (even if temporary)
conditionals like for the Polish page, whatsnew, special includes, or
whatever.  Such an abstraction would make it substantially difficult.

Anyway, I am not in opposition -- just have a bad feeling about this.
