Last night, I had a further idea. What if we say that tramp-remote-path
values nil and '(tramp-own-remote-path) are equal? No settings, no
checks.
Otherwise, a value of nil would behave like '(tramp-own-remote-path), no
settings and no checks. But an explicit value of '(tramp-own-remote-path)
would result in settings and checks. That sounds inconsistent.
Going further this line, we wouldn't need the value nil anymore except
for convenience.
