In that case, you might check the value of `temporary-file-directory'. Is
this a remote file name?

I have also checked Tramp sources. There was an error with
`temporary-file-directory', which was fixed on 2012-06-06. If you run a
newer Tramp version, it shouldn't affect you.

You might also try to debug in EDE. Since I don't know it, I cannot give
you real advice what to do there.
