Test condition:
Athlon XP 1600+ (1,4 GHz), 512 MB RAM
Slackware 9.1, 2.4.22 kernel

The new 0.9.16 works fine, also with new hamlib 1.2. Finally I am able to
control my TS-950SD! Refused any attempt to use packet radio (the equipment
is for sale now :-) The internet cluster works just fine.

There are several issues:

- cwdaemon - why obsolete 0.7 producing useless CW? We have already much
better 0.8beta1 based on unixcw which is SIGNIFICANTLY better? (oops checked
the 0.7 files and found it pretty old - no attempt to install and test)

- LPT pin 14 again and again - it should be used for A/B radio switching
(future), the mic/souncard switching should be moved to LPT pin 5 !!

- autocq - does not stop immediately if a key pressed. Needed to press ESC.
Very confusing! It is a bug/misfeature. Any key must stop the autocq !

- the help - the looong man page is actually not a help! A contest is always a
hurry, who has time to browse through a man page if a brief info (keystroke)
needed? I suggest a brief help in the same way found in previous versions.

- there is a problem with band map operations. How to select desired spot? I
find only Ctrl-G which the last spot however there is need to move through
the whole window and select the needed station. I noted some problems with
synchornization of mode if jumping onto a spot. My radio responds OK but the
log does not.

- the upper menu bar should change if moving from Log to S&P mode

- the qso template causes a SIGDEV error and TLF termination, probably if the
CW messages are longer

- the amount of text commands should be reduced. Single keystrokes should be
preferred for mode change and basic program manipulation (jump to band map
etc.)

Anyway, my first linux contest is nearby!

73,
Martin, OK1RR
