It does for me in Chrome. Don't know if a sans serif typeface counts
as a Roman but it seems right to go back to the main font (either
(r)eturning to main font or for making a (r)emark in code, if you like
distracting aide-memoires).

I don't see any reason not to change it as you suggest.
