Will think more on the raw text.  I feel unsure now about what is the
best thing to do.

On a simpler front, we added a small option at some point that doesn't
seem to have made its way into tp:

  @item @@deftypefnnewline @var{on-off}
  Specifies whether return types for @code{@@deftypefn} and similar are
  printed on lines by themselves; default is off.  @xref{Typed
  Functions,, Functions in Typed Languages}.
