next in menu also below, error message?

Hello,
This is a variant of the issue of node/menu not following a strict
tree hierarchy. In the following example
@node Top
@menu
* chapter::
@end menu
@node chapter
@chapter chapter
@menu
* section::
* subsection::
@end menu
@node section
@section section
@menu
* subsection::
@end menu
@node subsection
@subsection subsection
section is prev for subsection and section is also up of subsection. Should
there be a warning? My feeling is no, as it is a valid construct, and
if someone wants to have specific directions, he should not rely on
automatic directions.
